Verdi's brilliant adaptation of one of Shakespeare's greatest plays is the latest production in English Pocket Opera Company's ongoing collaboration with Central St Martins School of Art.

As usual, 8 talented student designers will make very unusual sets and costumes, creating a production like no other – an experience which provides an ideal introduction to the excitement of live opera for young and old alike.

The opera will be sung in Andrew Porter's English translation and features a cast of experienced professional soloists supported by the 40-strong EPOC Community Chorus.

Press from Orpheus and Eurydice 2014

.... inspiriting and moving. This unconventional, exhilarating Orpheus was a striking new confirmation, in many different ways, of why opera matters.
 Andrew Porter – Opera Magazine

Feedback from participants and teachers has been extraordinarily positive, even eulogistic. And, the statistics too are impressive. It seems incredible that all this is achieved on a shoe-string budget; It is not just a ‘worthy’ venture but a worthwhile and artistically rewarding one too.
Claire Seymour – Opera Today

On Tuesday I saw, and thoroughly enjoyed an enchanting, pared down, moving version of Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice. It ticks so many education boxes that even Ofsted would surely approve. It is all a terrific achievement for EPOC but Camden deserves huge pat on the back too for taking music education seriously despite all the political pressures not to. I hope other boroughs – and indeed the government – are listening. Warmest congratulations to all concerned for a project which provides excellent music and performing arts education for school students at several levels.
The Stage

Camden Music Service, Central Saint Martins, and EPOC deserve our praise for offering both reintroduction to and reminder of one of opera’s very greatest musical dramatists.
Mark Berry -Seen and Heard International

… in the company of much youthful enthusiasm and artistic originality, much fun was had by young and old present. … a wonderful occasion.
